Mohsin Naqvi to attend India vs Pakistan U19 Asia Cup final; fresh trophy controversy brewing

by

Latest reports from Pakistani media have suggested that ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi is once again off to Dubai to be part of the presentation ceremony of the ACC Men’s U-19 Asia Cup, with India and Pakistan playing in the finals.

Mohsin Naqvi, the current chairman of the PCB and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) as well, is once again off to Dubai to attend the final game between India Under-19 and Pakistan Under-19. The chairman is guilty of many antics against the Indian team.

Naqvi has often not aligned with his duties as the chairman of a neutral body, as he took off with the Asia Cup trophy when India was the winner of the Senior Men’s Asia Cup 2025, and denied taking the trophy from him. He is yet to hand the trophy over to the champions, India.

Will Mohsin Naqvi be part of the U-19 Asia Cup Presentation ceremony?

As per the latest reports from Geo News in Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled to travel to Dubai to witness the final game of the ACC Men’s U-19 Asia Cup and then felicitate the tournament winners.

The PCB Chief took much pride and looked elated as he handed over the Rising Stars Asia Cup trophy to Pakistan, and the same was expected from him in the Men’s Senior Asia Cup. As of now, the presentation is once again expected to be headed by the ACC chairman, and this is where another major controversy can unfold.

The Indian U-19 team will be chasing to secure the ACC Men’s U-19 title, and if they win the trophy and deny taking it over from the ACC Chairman, this could lead to another major controversy between the BCCI and Mohsin Naqvi.

India U-19 have carried their Senior team’s legacy of indifference in the Asia Cup

The Youth Indian team has carried forward the same legacy as their Senior Men’s side. India U-19 has also denied handshakes with the rival nation, something that started off with Suryakumar Yadav denying a handshake to Salman Agha during their first encounter in the Asia Cup group stages.

The two teams have continued their indifference, and India has not indulged in any post-match activities or friendly exchanges between the cricketers. However, on the personal front, some heartwarming scenes marked an Indian cricketer tying the laces for a Pakistani batter.

If India win, then they might continue with the denial of taking the trophy at the hands of the ACC chairman. Suryakumar Yadav’s team denied participating in the post-match presentation when Mohsin Naqvi took the podium.

India U-19 need to chase a massive target to win the U-19 Asia Cup title

Pakistan Under-19 lost the last time they played against India Under-19, as they failed to chase a minor target of 241. However, this time batting first, the Pakistanis have posted a mammoth target for the Indians to chase.

Sameer Minhas once again delivered handsomely with the bat as he finished on 172 off just 113 balls, while he was supported by Ahmed Hussain and Usman Khan in the middle order. Pakistan posted a challenging total of 347 in their 50 overs.

For any of the above-mentioned circumstances to occur, the Indian Under-19 team will have to chase the massive target of 348 runs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi will have a massive role to play alongside Captain Ayush Mhatre, Aaron George, and also double centurion Abhigyan Kundu.
