The current Asian Cricket Council Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has been adamant about not handing the Asia Cup Trophy to India until they send a representative to collect it from his office. The Indian board, BCCI, has hence decided to make a move into the ICC meeting.
Ever since India won the Asia Cup 2025, there have been large-scale implications over the denial of accepting the trophy at the hands of the PCB Chief and the Pakistan interior minister. He, too, boosted his ego by walking away with the trophy.
The BCCI has written on multiple occasions to the ACC asking them to hand over the trophy to them without any further delay. However, the ACC Chief kept pestering them by denying them the trophy.

BCCI to escalate Asia Cup Trophy row to the ICC; Meeting fixed
The BCCI is aiming to extend the talks related to the Asia Cup Trophy row to the apex international body of Cricket. They have been constantly requesting as well as sending formal appeals to the ACC to receive the trophy, which is sealed at the headquarters in Dubai.
However, Mohsin Naqvi, in a recent response to the claim, issued a strict ultimatum that BCCI would have to send any one of the players to accept it at the hands of Naqvi himself from the ACC headquarters. They could then host a ceremony in India; however, he won’t send the trophy across the border to India.
The BCCI had also warned him of making a move to the ICC, raising the matter in front of all members of the ICC at the ICC board meeting to be held from 4th to 7th November in Dubai. ICC is currently headed by former BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

BCCI extended a helping hand to ACB and SLC against Mohsin Naqvi
The BCCI has been fighting alone all along with not much support; however, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, as well as the Afghanistan Cricket Board, have now entered the scenario, backing the Board of Control for Cricket in India against Mohsin Naqvi.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board was in support of the BCCI from the very first moment, as they have always kept good relations with the Indian board. Currently, they are hosting the Women’s World Cup together, and would be co-hosting the upcoming T20 World Cup together.
The ACB, however, came in support of the BCCI after the heinous attacks in the Afghan territory led to the death of 3 innocent Afghan cricketers, and they held Pakistan responsible for such attacks. ACB further withdrew from a tri-series in Pakistan and was backed with solidarity by the BCCI.
BCCI to pave the way for Mohsin Naqvi’s impeachment from the ACC
The Asian Cricket Council has only a few Test-playing nations, and India already has the support of two of these boards. With SLC co-hosting an ICC tournament alongside India and ACB sending their youth team over to India to hand them a better platform to shape themselves as better modern-day cricketers, they do not seem to go against any of BCCI’s stances.
Mohsin Naqvi’s impeachment has been on the minds of the BCCI officials anyway; moreover, a huge portion of ACC’s finances comes from the BCCI and the games concerned with the Indian team. With widespread support and constant pressure mounting, the impeachment of Mohsin Naqvi from his chair doesn’t seem too far away.
