Monterey senior Ambrosia “Bro Bro” Cole is staying home after graduation.
Cole, a 5-foot-5 guard, announced Tuesday afternoon on social media her commitment to the Texas Tech women’s basketball program. She was the Plainsmen’s second-leading scorer behind Aaliyah Chavez during Monterey’s run to the Class 5A Division II state title last season.

Chavez, the country’s No. 1 recruit in the class of 2025, signed with Oklahoma. Now Cole will be the unquestioned leader of the Plainsmen as they enter the first campaign under coach Chelsea Hunter.
Cole averaged 18.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.4 blocks to earn a spot on the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches 5A all-state team. She posted 16 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals in Monterey’s championship win over Liberty Hill to make the all-state tournament team.
Cole chose Tech over Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Arizona, among others. She was a Monterey teammate for one season with former Lady Raiders forward Kelly Mora, who left the program in the offseason.
