Michigan State football is reportedly “regaining the momentum” in their pursuits for a big-time prospect in the 2026 class.
Rivals recruiting insider Greg Smith reported on Thursday that Michigan State is “regaining the momentum” in a key recruiting battle with Penn State for four-star wide receiver Samson Gash. National signing day is right around the corner, and it appears that it’ll come down to the Spartans or Nittany Lions for Gash’s commitment.

Gash is a four-star wide receiver, with a recruiting rating of 90.80 in 247Sports’ composite system. He ranks as the No. 47 wide receiver and No. 6 player from Michigan in the 2026 class. He is also listed as the No. 289 overall prospect in the class.
Gash has been verbally committed to Michigan State since the summer, but elected to not sign with the Spartans during the early signing period due to the recent coaching change. However, he has never fully opened up his recruitment and it appears Michigan State may still be in the drivers seat to add this elite-level wide receiver.
