Grace VanSlooten registered a double-double while playing a role in the Michigan State women’s basketball team picking up its best win of the season.
VanSlooten had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the No. 23-ranked Spartans in their 66-49 victory over No. 14-ranked Ole Miss in the championship game of the Cherokee Invitational on Monday, Dec. 22 in Cherokee, North Carolina.

The win marked the first win over a top-25 ranked opponent this season for the Spartans, who have won three straight since a road setback to Wisconsin on Dec. 7.
VanSlooten also had a team-high three assists and was one of three players in double figures for the MSU. Isa Alexander had 14 points and six rebounds while making her first start of the season and Rashunda Jones added 13 points for the Spartans (11-1).
Cotie McMahon, a former Ohio State standout, had 13 points to lead Ole Miss, which shot just 33.3% from the field (17-of-51) in the game.
The Spartans lead 26-20 at halftime before taking control during the third quarter. MSU outscored the Rebels 23-12 in the third, which included ending the quarter on a 7-0 run.

MSU is idle until Sunday, Dec.. 28 when it will host Rutgers in its Big Ten home opener.
