The groups have already been drawn for next week’s ATP Finals in Turin. Now all Lorenzo Musetti needs to do is qualify by winning the title in Athens.
The 23-year-old Italian took another step closer as he took out fifth-seeded Alexandre Muller on Thursday, 6-2, 6-4, setting a semifinal clash with American Sebastian Korda, who defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-2.
Musetti needs the title to pass Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Race to Turin standings. If he does so he will make his ATP Finals debut at Turin as part of the Bjorn Borg Group, which also includes Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton.
Musetti broke Muller’s serve four times in nine return games on Thursday and won an impressive 36 of 72 return points.
Musetti and Korda have split four previous meetings but have not met since 2022.
