My Favorite Finds from Johnnie-O’s End of Season Sale (Up to 50% Off)

by

The year just started, but here in the Northeast, we’re still knee-deep in winter. It hasn’t even been a full month since the winter solstice, which means there’s still plenty of cold, unpredictable weather ahead. At the same time, March is only a couple of months away, and it’s not too early to start thinking about golf season. One of the easiest and most overlooked ways to prepare is by taking a hard look at what you wear.

The good news is you don’t have to wait for spring releases to do that. Johnnie-O’s end-of-season sale is one of those rare chances to grab genuinely good layers and staples at a meaningful discount, wear them now, and still feel great about them when golf season rolls back around. Over the last year, Johnnie-O has become one of my favorite brands because it bridges sport and elegant dressing better than most. A lot of these pieces work just as well away from the course as they do on it. With discounts up to 50% off, there are some really strong buys here. These are a few of my favorite finds that are absolutely worth your attention.

Viktor Printed Camo 1/4 Zip Pullover

You’ve heard me talk about this one before, but I absolutely love the Viktor Camo 1/4 Zip. Look, I know that camo is divisive, but when done right, it looks utilitarian, sporty, modern, and downright cool, and I genuinely think that this 1/4 zip is perfect. Granted, this isn’t something I’ll wear when I’m going out to dinner or even feel like looking more polished. But, this is something I’m wearing to the gym, to the airport, or just on a lazier day where I don’t feel like thinking about things too much.

Belfry Quilted Puffer Vest

Man, does this vest look good. Everything about the Belfry is unique and elevated. A quick look tells you that this is not your run of the mill puffer vest, and can say with complete confidence that you won’t see anyone else with a vest like this. You can absolutely tell that this has been inspired by retro Barbour Vests but is modern enough to look great with a pair of sneakers and with a more casual ensemble. Look, if you want to take this back to a complete golf setting, tell me you can’t picture wearing this at St. Andrews.

Everyday Performance Button Down Shirt

The older I get, the more I gravitate towards neutral colors. Call it the Adam Scott Effect, I guess. Anyway, we’re all adults here, and there is everything right with having a mature wardrobe, and the foundation of every man’s wardrobe should be a well-fitting button-down shirt. What I love so much about the Everyday Performance Button Down is the texture. As someone who regularly wears an oxford cloth button down, I actually like the texture of this shirt better— it’s a little less rigid, is softer and moisture-wicking. These shirts feel and look high-end (because, they are). For what it’s worth and for whatever reason, this is the type of shirt I picture Daniel Craig wearing.

Hampton Garment-Dyed Corduroy Pant

I’m usually not one for getting inspiration from mannequins when shopping in-store or from the modeled pictures when shopping online. However, everything about this ensemble is perfect, and I mean everything. For three months out of the year, corduroy pants are such an underrated and awesome pick. They give you texture, a little bit of warmth, and a versatile option that can be dressed up or down. Not enough men wear corduroy pants nowadays, and I’m not sure if it’s because somewhere along the way we’ve lost the plot and we think they’re for “old men” but I’m here to tell you that corduroy is for everyone, and it looks and feels great.

McDowell Wool Quilt-Lined Shacket

Yes, yes, and yes. I will not mince words: this shacket is awesome. Once again, this is just something you could picture a Steve McQueen or Daniel Craig wearing and looking like the coolest guy on earth. I’m not going to sit here and tell you that any of us will ever be quite as cool as them, but we can get close, and this piece is the perfect place to start.

Santa Monica Suede Moccasins

You’re not going to find a pair of true suede loafers for a better price than $138. Sure, you might find faux suede or “suede” but like cashmere, there are levels when it comes to the quality of suede. The Santa Monica are made from Argentinian cashmere cow suede, and are among one of the higher-tiered offerings you’re going to find in this price range. I’m a loafer guy through and through, and these are a definite pickup if you’re looking to upgrade your style in the new year.
