The pace was relentless, the shot clock unforgiving. Namibia’s Day 1 matchup against Germany revealed the intensity of 3×3 Basketball. Namibia’s Moses Fredericks rose to the challenge, contesting drives and staying active on the perimeter.
“I enjoyed the game and had a lot of fun,” Moses said after the battle. Reflecting on his performance, he added, “I feel good about my defense.”
In 3×3, where a single steal can turn into an immediate scoring chance, Moses’ anticipation and footwork were crucial. Namibia came out on top, 13–3. Speaking on his team’s chemistry, Moses shared, “Even with the fast pace and physical play in 3×3, we worked well together. Everyone knew their role on switches, and that’s what kept us competitive against strong opponents.”
From Hope Village to the World Stage
A student at Môreson Special School and a resident of Hope Village, Moses built his athletic foundation across several sports – soccer, volleyball, floorball, and basketball. His adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges make him a natural multi-sport athlete.
Earlier this year, Moses traveled with the Brave Boys to Turin, Italy, for the Special Olympics World Winter Games as part of Special Olympics Namibia’s national floorball team, gaining invaluable experience in international competition and learning to thrive under high-pressure conditions. During early training days in Namibia, Moses and his teammates practiced with homemade equipment, yet still finished fourth – a remarkable achievement that inspired fans and showcased their skill.
Division 2 Final: Namibia vs. Italy
On the final day of the 3×3 Basketball World Cup, Namibia faced Italy in the Division 2 final. Italy came out firing with crisp drives and precise ball movement. Namibia fought back with aggressive pushes, but Italy’s offense secured a 13 – 5 victory.
Never one to settle, Moses is already thinking about his next World Cup. “I want to shoot more as that is my strong point,” he said, eyeing future international opportunities.
