One national analyst believes Michigan State basketball is a top five team in the country.
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports released his updated daily rankings on Friday morning, with the Spartans checking in as a top five team nationally. Rothstein had Michigan State listed at No. 5 in the country, which is only behind Purdue (No. 1), Arizona (No. 2), Michigan (No. 3) and Duke (No. 4).

This bump up the rankings came after the Spartans picked up yet another impressive win this year, beating North Carolina by double-digits on Thanksgiving evening. The win over the Tar Heels pushed Michigan State to 7-0 on the year and was their third ranked victory of the season.
Michigan State is currently ranked No. 12 in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll, but surely should be moving up in the new poll that’ll come out on Monday. The Spartans have a pair of big-time games coming up next week against Iowa on Tuesday and Duke on Saturday.
