Last month, Brooklyn Nets star Michael Porter Jr. made some eyebrow-raising comments about the level of basketball being played in the WNBA.

Appearing with Lonzo Ball on the Ball in the Family podcast, Porter claimed that he could have taken down a team of WNBA stars when he was in the eighth grade — an incendiary comment that prompted a reply from Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham.
But did Porter have even more to say on the topic of playing in the WNBA?
A viral post on X claims that Porter recently said he wanted to play a season in the W “just to see if (he) could break” Wilt Chamberlain’s single-game points record of 100.
As of Monday morning, the post has 1.1 million impressions and more than 39,000 likes.
Perhaps fortunately, the quote is completely fabricated. It is the work of the popular satirical account @TheNBACentel on X.

“(I know) this is a parody account. But he would actually say something like this,” wrote @CryptoG
To date, Porter has not chimed back in on the state of the WNBA since his controversial podcast appearance.
Instead, he has since poured his efforts into playing some of the best basketball of his career.
Porter this season is averaging a career-best 25.6 points per game for the Brooklyn Nets, who have won four of their past six games to improve their record to 7-18.
