Nebraska women’s basketball tipped off the 2025-2026 season on Monday with a high noon game against Northwestern State. The Huskers opened the season strong, blowing out the Lady Demons 103-46.
Nebraska took control of the game quickly after being tied 4-4 a few minutes in. The Huskers outscored Northwestern State 32-10 in the first quarter, before delivering a 27-8 second quarter to head into halftime up 59-18. Though the Lady Demons doubled its score total by dropping 19 points in the third quarter, Nebraska kept its foot on the gas to run away with the win.

The Huskers finished the game going 35-of-59 from the floor, 8-of-17 from three-point range, and 23-of-30 from the free throw line. Nebraska struck big in the paint, scoring 50 points, and outrebounded Northwestern State 36-26. The Lady Demons finished 15-of-42 from the floor, 4-of-16 from three-point range, and 12-of-24 from the free throw line. The Huskers also scored 35 points off 24 turnovers, which included 14 steals.
Samford transfer Claire Johnson led the way for the Huskers, tallying 21 points and going 7-of-9 from the floor, 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Britt Prince finished just behind Johnson with 19 points, shooting 7-of-12, 1-of-2, and 4-of-5, respectively. She also secured five rebounds in the win.
Callin Hake scored 13 points on the day, going a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor and a 1-of-1 from three-point range. She also shot 4-of-5 from the foul line and earned three assists. Jessica Petrie led the team in rebounds, snatching seven to accompany her 11-point outing. She shot 5-of-10 from the floor and 1-of-3 from three-point range.
Petra Bozan rounded out Nebraska’s double-digit scorers on the day, finishing with 11 points after shooting 4-of-6, 1-of-2, and 2-of-5, respectively. She also snatched three rebounds.

The Huskers remain home for their next game, welcoming in Samford for a late Saturday afternoon showdown. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. on B1G+.
