Mattel’s new Hulk Hogan retro figure caused a frenzy this week—and it only took minutes to disappear from online shelves.
During WWE RAW’s July 28 episode, a promo aired for the new figure styled after the classic LJN wrestling toys of the 1980s. Within less than 10 minutes of the mention, the figure had completely sold out on pre-order. WrestleVotes summed it up with a post saying:
“As they just referenced on RAW, the famous LJN figures are back. The Hulk Hogan preorder is already sold out – less than 10 minutes after the promo aired. Hulkamania running wild.”
This is the first release in Mattel’s new tribute line replicating the classic LJN 8-inch rubber-style wrestling figures, originally produced between 1984 and 1989. The new Hogan figure includes a replica of the vintage “winged eagle” WWF Championship belt and retro packaging straight out of the Rock ‘n’ Wrestling era.
Collectors are already calling this a must-have, and the timing couldn’t be more emotional. Hulk Hogan’s passing last week sparked a wave of tributes across WWE programming. That renewed attention no doubt fueled interest in this nostalgic release.
While the initial pre-order is sold out, Mattel plans to stock the figure in stores like Target beginning this October. More throwback figures are expected in the months ahead, featuring legends from Hogan’s golden era of wrestling.
