The September 30 episode of WWE NXT just got even bigger with the announcement that brand-new NXT Champion Ricky Saints will appear live.
Saints captured the NXT Title from Oba Femi at NXT No Mercy, shocking the brand and marking the start of a new era for the black-and-gold brand. Now, the newly crowned champion will take the spotlight on tonight’s show. WWE confirmed Saints’ appearance on social media, posting a clip with the caption:
“The NEW NXT Champion Ricky Saints takes center stage TONIGHT on #WWENXT! 📺 8ET/7CT on @TheCW.”
Saints’ title win was one of the defining moments of No Mercy, and his first appearance as champion is expected to set the tone for what’s next for the brand. Fans will be looking for clues on his first challenger and how his reign will shape the landscape of NXT going forward.
Tonight’s show will also feature General Manager Ava and TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella picking their teams for the upcoming NXT vs. TNA “Invasion” special on October 7. In addition, Jaida Parker will face Lash Legend in a heated grudge match after Legend interfered in Parker’s WWE Speed Title match at No Mercy. The full card for tonight’s episode is as follows:
