Greg Rusedski questioned whether Nick Kyrgios deserved a wild card for the Australian Open.
The remarks, understandably, struck a nerve with the Canberra native firing back as soon as he landed Down Under from Dubai.

Kyrgios wasted no time or words in his response, turning the spotlight back on his critic. The Aussie referenced Rusedski's own controversial chapter from his playing days over two decades ago.
Nick dismissed the relevance of advice coming from someone he believes lacks credibility in today's game. The 2022 Wimbledon finalist has not yet officially received the Australian Open wild card.
Craig Tiley is likely monitoring his performance at the upcoming ATP 250 event in Brisbane, although it's safe to say that the invitation is ready for the Melbourne Park crowd favorite.
Kyrgios has played only six matches since October 2022! He underwent surgeries and played only one match in 2023 and 2024, starting from the beginning following severe wrist issues.

The Canberra native returned to action in the opening three months of 2025. He gave everything at the Australian Open despite an evident pain, refusing to retire in front of partisan crowd.
His only win of the season came in Miami before falling to Karen Khachanov. That remains his most recent match, as he missed the rest of the season and focused on his recovery.
Nick is ready to make another push in Brisbane and Melbourne and chase fresh victories if his body holds up after such an extended break.
"I'm pretty sure Greg got done for performance enhancing drugs once in his career, so I would not take too much advice from someone like that. You let me know when he sold out a stadium last time he played," Nick Kyrgios said.
