Nixon Newell is responding to the recent controversy involving her. She has addressed rumors that AEW sent her home and is now pushing back on a claim that she went out drinking afterward.
Newell and Miranda Alize were scheduled to wrestle Anna Jay and Tay Melo on AEW Collision. However, plans changed suddenly, and the two walked out of the event. It was reported that they left the arena about an hour before showtime after a disagreement over the creative direction of their match. Their departure led to a last-minute change in the lineup and raised more questions about backstage communication in AEW.
Shortly after that walkout, Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize went out drinking, and fans spotted them. That detail didn’t sit well with Newell, who pointed out that going out for drinks isn’t unusual for her.
During her Twitch stream, Nixon Newell went in a lot of detail about what happened backstage at AEW. She explained that there is absolutely no bad blood there, which is something she made very clear.
“It was all done respectfully. It was never an ego thing about 3 minutes. It was that it wasn’t going to be good for anyone in the match. There is more, but we’re not going to go into that. It is what it is. In reality, it is what it is. You guys can believe whatever you want to belive, the people involved know the truth. There are receipts, but we’re not going to show them, because there is no bad blood. I think the most important part for us both is that the people in this business who have a direct line to us have quickly called out the dirt sheets for — not attacking us, but it is what it is.”
Nixon Newell explained that they were only given three minutes, and they simply explained to the AEW producer that the time could benefit someone else even more. Since they didn’t have a match, and no reason to be there, they were told that it was okay to leave. So, they left the building and that sparked the controversy.
We will keep a close eye on Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize from this point on. Only time will tell what sort of opportunities will come their way. They certainly got a lot of attention because of this situation.
