England National Cricket Team white-ball captain Harry Brook recently dethroned his teammate Joe Root to become the No.1 batsman in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings.
Your daily dose of cricket!
The 26-year-old Brook has been in good form in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and registered 99, 0, 158, and 23 across the four innings in the first Test match.
These performances, along with batting legend Joe Root’s failure with the bat, pushed Harry Brook to the top of the rankings.
Meanwhile, a battle was seen between the No. 1-ranked Test batter and No. 1-ranked Test bowler on Day 1 of the Lord’s Test. Jasprit Bumrah easily won that battle by rattling the stumps of Harry Brook in the 55th over.
On the fifth ball of the over, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a lethal 140 kmph nip-backer to Harry Brook, who hung around in front of off stump, to push the ball into the off-side, but it swung away and snaked in sharply to rattle the stumps.
Brook was left shocked after getting out for 11 runs off 20 balls, with two fours, and walked back to the hut in disappointment.
