The No. 4 Texas Longhorns (19-2, 4-2) made a Lone Star Showdown statement on Sunday at the Moody Center, beating the Texas A&M Aggies (8-6,1-4), 80-35, tying the Stanford Cardinal as the third-winningest program in women’s college basketball history.
In the first quarter, Texas took the edge with senior guard Ashton Judd making a layup as the Longhorns defense held the Aggies to a 27.3-percent shooting in the opening quarter and forced nine turnovers to end the opening period with a 16-10 lead.

A jumper by Texas junior wing Madison Booker in the second quarter pushed the lead to 10 points heading into the locker room, 34-24, although A&M defense forced the home team to all 10 shots from beyond the arc in the first half.
In the third period, the Longhorns defense held the Aggies offense to seven-percent shooting while Texas’ offense shot 42.9 percent. Texas’ Jordan Lee scored six points with a handful of rebounds and a steal ending the third quarter, 57-27, as the Horns outscored the Aggies 20-3 in the quarter.
In the fourth and final period, the Aggie offense was only able to hit 11.8 percent of their shots from the field. Back from injury, true freshman guard Aaliyah Crump led the Longhorns in the final quarter with 10 points while nabbing a steal and tossing one assist.
The Longhorns were led by Crump with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals while Booker hit for 10 points, six assists, four steals, three rebounds, and two blocks. Senior center Kyla Oldacre nabbed her fourth double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds while guard Rori Harmon added 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. The Longhorns outscored the Aggies 25-6 in points off turnovers while the bench provided a major boost with 43 points to only five from the A&M reserves. Texas also held down the paint, out-rebounding the Aggies 58-38 and holding a 48-10 margin in points in the paint.
