NO WAY?! Aspinall’s Teammate Delivers Nasty Eye Poke, Still Gets KO’d

by

Things turned really weird earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 1, 2025) at UFC Vegas 110 LIVE on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nev., during a heavyweight co-main event between Tom Aspinall’s teammate, Ante Delija, and Dominican striker, Waldo Cortes-Acosta.

Maybe it’s some leftover Halloween fright or the lamest trick every played on fight fans, but this entire fight was ruined by an eye poke. As if it wasn’t bad enough to see Aspinall’s recent title defense at UFC 321 go to waste from an eye poke, now fight fans have to see his teammate go up in flames, too.

Delija, who made a huge splash in his UFC debut with a knockout win over Marcin Tybura, looked good in the early going. It appeared the heavyweight newcomer was about to finish the fight before he landed an inadvertent eye poke amidst a flurry of punches. At first, it seemed like the referee had called the fight off due to the strikes, but upon further review it showed that Cortes-Acosta received a finger in the eye and the referee was just calling a pause to the action.

Once Cortes-Acosta was able to recover the commission allowed him to continue due to replay evidence and no signs of a concussion. Good thing they did because Cortes-Acosta unleashed all hell on Delija once the fight resumed. Cortes-Acosta uncorked a vicious right hand that toppled Delija to the canvas, prompting “Salsa Boy” to move in for the fight-ending combination. It was unbelievable.

Check out the pesky eye poke and incredible comeback knockout below!
