Noche UFC loses co-main event

by

Noche UFC will have a few less “Chiwiwis.”

Raul Rosas Jr. is out of UFC Fight Night 259 (also known as Noche UFC) against Rob Font. The three-round bantamweight fight was expected to serve as the co-main event of the Sept. 13 card at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. Wristlock MMA first reported the news Tuesday.

It’s unclear why Rosas (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) withdrew from the fight or if Font (22-8 MMA, 12-7 UFC) will receive a replacement opponent. The withdrawal marks only the second time Rosas has pulled out of a fight. He currently is riding a four-fight winning streak.

If he remains on the card, Font, 38, will seek his third win in a row as part of a late-career resurgence. After losses in four of five fights, Font defeated Kyler Phillips and Jean Matsumoto in consecutive outings.

With the change, the Noche UFC lineup includes:

  • Diego Lopes vs. Jean Silva
  • Rob Font vs. TBA
  • Amanda Lemos vs. Tatiana Suarez
  • Kelvin Gastelum vs. Dustin Stoltzfus
  • Daniil Donchenko vs. Rodrigo Sezinando
  • Rafa Garcia vs. Jared Gordon
  • Jesus Aguilar vs. Luis Gurule
  • Alice Pereira vs. Montserrat Rendon
  • Claudio Puelles vs. Joaquim Silva
  • Jose Medina vs. Dusko Todorovic
  • Sedriques Dumas vs. Zach Reese
  • Alden Coria vs. Alessandro Costa
  • Quang Le vs. David Martinez
