Notorious gangster vs. boxing legend: Grandsons set to fight

Two world-famous bloodlines will square off inside the boxing ring.

John Gotti III and James Hagler Jr. are set to fight Oct. 11 in a six-round professional light heavyweight bout at a CES Boxing event from Foxwoods Resort in Mashantucket, Conn., the promotion recently announced.

Gotti, 32, is the grandson of the infamous New York gangster who bared the same name – and the nickname “The Teflon Don.” Gotti’s violence, however, comes inside the boxing ring and cage. He’s 2-0 in professional boxing and 5-1 in professional MMA. He also boxed Floyd Mayweather to a draw in an August 2024 exhibition bout that ended in an all-out brawl between the two teams.

Hagler, 34, is the grandson of “Marvelous” Marvin Hagler, the former undisputed middleweight champion and all-time boxing great. Today’s competing Hagler is 3-2 as a professional boxer, having debuted in 2019 at the age of 29.
