Notre Dame named as one of a few schools that could flip 2027 5-star Penn State commit

When there’s smoke, there’s fire and that is exactly the case with current Penn State 2027 5-star running back commit Kemon Spell.

The nation’s No. 9 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite will make a visit to South Bend when Notre Dame hosts Texas A&M, and on Tuesday it was reported that they are one of six schools that have a chance to flip the elite running back.

Others teams that could make Spell switch his commitment are Ohio State, Tennessee, USC, Alabama and Michigan, which puts the Nittany Lions in a bad spot. The Irish have had a lot of good luck going up against PSU in the 2026 recruiting cycle, winning battles like Joey O’Brien and Khary Adams.

The hope is that with the unofficial visit scheduled, and now this report that Notre Dame is a frontrunner to flip Spell, that the trend continues with Penn State and the Irish on the recruiting trail.
