Newly hired defensive backs coach Aaron Henry has an opportunity to make a big splash at his new job with Notre Dame.
Four-star safety Gavin Williams announced that the Irish are one of his top contenders and will be visiting South Bend on June 19. The 6-foot, 1-inc and 180-pound safety plays at Damien High School in La Verne, California. According to the 247 composite, he is the No. 145 ranked player in the class and the No. 14 safety.

On the field, Gavin looks to be a prototype, having built a reputation as a rangy back-end defender. Williams has played both sides of the field for Damien, also playing wide receiver. Recruiting analysts note his natural tracking of the football, his knack for high-pointing passes in traffic and his reliability as an open-field tackler who finishes through contract.
Notre Dame’s staff, led by head coach Marcus Freeman along with the aforementioned Henry will have their work cut out for them with some sizable competition for Gavin’s services. Notre Dame will be battling USC, UCLA, Washington, and Texas A&M in his recruitment. What the Irish might have in their favor is that they are scheduled to be the last visit of the five and will have an opportunity to close the deal.
Aaron Henry was considered one of the top defensive back recruiters in the country at his previous stop at Illinois and will now have an opportunity show his skills by landing Gavin for the Irish.
