Ohio State football defensive back Lorenzo Styles Jr. available at Washington

by

SEATTLE — Lorenzo Styles Jr. is available at Washington, providing Ohio State with its starting nickel back for its Big Ten opener on Sept. 27.

Styles, who was held out of most of the second half Buckeyeswin over Ohio two weeks ago due to an apparent upper-body injury, was not one of the players recorded as out or questionable on the availability list submitted to the conference.

His return had been expected. Following a practice earlier this week, coach Ryan Day said Styles was “ready to go” for the matchup with the Huskies.

Ohio State Buckeyes cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr. (3) celebrates with cornerback Devin Sanchez (6) during the second half of the NCAA football game against the Texas Longhorns at Ohio Stadium on Aug. 30, 2025. Ohio State won 14-7.

The Buckeyes had been idle last weekend, allowing Styles more time for recovery. He started all three nonconference games, assuming a larger role in the secondary this year as a redshirt senior.

Bennett Christian, one of the Buckeyes’ top reserve tight ends, is also available after he was out against Ohio with an undisclosed injury.

Christian has caught two passes for 7 yards this season. His presence allows Ohio State to use heavier personnel packages with its tight ends.

Who is unavailable for Ohio State against Washington?

Only seven players have been ruled out, the smallest unavailable list for the Buckeyes this season.

The Buckeyes listed safety Brenten Jones, linebacker Eli Lee, quarterback Mason Maggs, defensive tackle Max Roy, safety Deshawn Stewart, defensive lineman Ahmed Tounkara and wide receiver Preston Wolfe as out.

Running back Anthony Rogers, tight end Max LeBlanc and defensive lineman Jason Moore are no longer listed as unavailable.
