Ohio State’s coaching staff was all over the recruiting trail this week. The Buckeyes have made new offers aplenty, and one of the latest comes by way of a top talent in the 2028 class.
Making a stop in Georgia on Wednesday, it was five-star safety target Giovanni Tuggle on the receiving end of a recent scholarship. A 6-foot, 175 pound athlete, Tuggle is just two prep seasons into his high school career, and the Winder-Barrow product is already atop of the rankings and seeing his recruitment explode.

The No. 10 player nationally and the top-ranked safety in the 2028 class per the 247Sports Composite, Tuggle already holds nearly 20 offers to his name and from some of the best schools there is. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Oregon, Texas, and others worth noting, the Buckeyes are a touch later but have made their interest clear.
Position coach Matt Guerrieri not wasting any more time getting Ohio State in the mix here, he has the recent success of helping develop the 2025 Thorpe Award winner. Caleb Downs and his success in a Buckeye uniform doesn’t hurt the staff’s chances, and from here on they’ll do their best to make him see why he too can flourish in Columbus.
The trenches always the key to success in this game, Ohio State’s staff is wasting no time at all looking for more talent to further their future. The Peach State is always talent-rich and ripe for the picking, and the Buckeyes made their presence known once again in Georgia on Wednesday courtesy of another class of 2028 prospect. This time, 6-foot-3, 275 pound Prince Che was the recipient of a new Ohio State offer.

Currently unranked via his 247Sports profile, schools such as Florida State, Maryland, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech already on his offer list show the caliber of player Che is. Not far away from seeing his name increase in stock, Ohio State deciding to jump in the fold is sure to only boost the chances of that happening.
The ideal frame for the interior defensive line at the next level, just a sophomore with two more seasons of growth and development still to go it’s easy to see why some of the bigger schools are now after Prince and his services. From here, look for Larry Johnson to try his best at getting Che on campus as those visits tend to only help Ohio State’s chances of landing these battles.
Ohio State goes after current Miami commit
The Miami Hurricanes may have gotten the best of Ohio State this season, but the Buckeyes aren’t shying away from more competition relating to them directly.

A new offer for the staff going out yesterday, it was current Miami commitment DeMarcus DeRoche that heard from the Buckeyes. Though he’s verbally pledged elsewhere, this coaching staff knows it’s never over until pen hits the paper and signing day for the 2027 class is plenty far away to worry about that.
A 6-foot-4, 205 pound athlete, DeRoche lines up on both sides of the field and is successful in every spot he’s put. A multi-sport athlete with a coveted frame, there’s plenty to like in his game. The No. 231 player nationally and tenth best athlete per the 247Sports Composite, Ohio State may not be able to steal him away, but at the very least is shooting their shot.
Heavily recruiting Florida every year, 2027 will be no different even without Brian Hartline doing some of the heavy lifting. Whether he plays on the offensive or defensive side of the ball at the next level, Ohio State is highly interested and will do their best to even up the score on the in-state Hurricanes as they target their committed player.
