Ohio State women’s basketball coach earns career milestone

by

The Ohio State women’s basketball team is in the middle of an impressive season. With a record of 21-3 (10-2 in the Big Ten), the Buckeyes are ranked No. 9 in the country and are in third place in the Big Ten behind UCLA and Michigan.

Head coach Kevin McGuff has had a fair amount of success in his coaching career, even though he’s never made it further than the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. McGuff, however, crossed another career milestone with the team’s most recent conference win on Thursday. The win over the Washington Huskies gave the Ohio State head coach 500 career victories.

With head coaching stints at Xavier, Washington, and in Columbus for the past 12 seasons, McGuff has compiled quite a career. Unfortunately for the Buckeye head coach, it took longer than expected to reach the career achievement as the school had 52 wins vacated due to sanctions after former associate coach Patrick Klein admitted he had violated policies with players and recruits. It would end up being nothing more than a bump in the road that delayed the inevitable for the leader of the OSU women’s basketball team.
