The Oklahoma Sooners have had a busy day of additions in the NCAA transfer portal, and their latest acquisition is another player who can help bolster their offense in 2026.
OU is adding former Colorado State running back Lloyd Avant to the mix, as he announced his commitment to the Sooners via the portal. Avant spent his sophomore year with the Rams after spending his freshman season at Tulsa, where he played under former head coach Kevin Wilson. With Wilson now the Special Assistant to the Head Coach and an offensive analyst for the Sooners, Avant was a natural link to Oklahoma once he left CSU.

Avant ran for five touchdowns on 90 carries for 417 yards in 2025, and hails from Humble, Texas. He also caught 24 passes for 261 yards and a score. He stands a 5-foot-10 and weighs 210 pounds, and was Colorado State’s second-leading rusher this past season. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
The Sooners needed to add depth in the running back room this offseason. Senior Jaydn Ott has exhausted his collegiate eligibility, and both Jovantae Barnes and Taylor Tatum have entered the portal. However, Oklahoma returns the top two players in the running back room in Xavier Robinson and Tory Blaylock, depth pieces in Gabe Sawchuk and Andy Bass, and signed two true freshmen running backs in Jonathan Hatton Jr. and DeZephen Walker.
Avant will now look to earn carries for the Sooners, and he’ll be another piece for OU to use offensively in a young and talent running back room.
