One person has died and another is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a fire at a Stanley, N.C. home owned by NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin on Sunday, according to local outlet WSOC-TV.
Neighbors said his parents, Denny and Mary Lou Hamlin, occupy the four-bedroom, three-bath home in Gaston County, which sits on 1.76 acres and is surrounded by trees.

Chief David Toomey of the Lucia Riverbend Fire Department Toomey confirmed to WCNC-TV in Charlotte that the driverβs parents lived there.

Officials have not yet shared names of the victims.
First responders said upon arrival two people were outside the home and were rushed to the hospital.

Property records list the owner as Hamlinβs real estate company, Won One Real Estate.
Nearly a dozen different departments responded to the fire as Stanley does not have fire hydrants.

Toomey said 40- 45 percent of the home was already burning by the time fire crews arrived.
βThey had some really expensive cars in the garage and some racing memorabilia and stuff, so all that was saved,β Toomey told The Athletic at the scene. βWe were able to save all that and get it out so it wasnβt damaged.β

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
