‘One of us is on a suicide mission’ over NASCAR lawsuit

by

Adding even more credence to the notion that the 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports v NASCAR antitrust lawsuit and countersuit is destined to trial was Denny Hamlin in how he characterized settlement mediation over the past week.

“It went okay the first day, not great the second day,” Hamlin said during a press conference on Saturday at Martinsville Speedway. “I don’t know. Didn’t end in any resolution, unfortunately.”

This settlement mediation was forced by the court after NASCAR asked to bring parties back together for such a conversation after an attempt in August lasted one hour and produced no progress whatsoever.

This time, the conversations took place in the court room with Judge Kenneth D. Bell present.

What is to prevent this reaching trial?

“Hours and days,” Hamlin said.

There was also a court session on Thursday for oral arguments over a pair of summary judgment motions.

“You sat in on court on Thursday,” Hamlin said. “Both sides probably feel strongly about their case. I think one of us is on a suicide mission.”
