The Blue Ribbon College Basketball Year Book, a publication run by Chris Dortch, ranked the Texas Longhorns as the No. 24 team in the country in its preseason ranking.

Texas is entering its first season under head coach Sean Miller, who spent the last three seasons at Xavier. He has a 487-196 record over 20 seasons as a head coach. Miller started at Xavier, coached at Arizona, then returned to Xavier before taking the Texas job.
The Longhorns open their season against the poll’s No. 4 team, Duke, on November 4 in Charlotte, N.C. as part of the Dick Vitale Invitational presented by Belk. That game tips off at 7:45 p.m. CT in the Spectrum Center on ESPN.
SEC teams in the ranking’s top 25 included No. 1 Florida, No. 7 Tennessee, No. 8 Kentucky, No. 11 Alabama, No. 13 Auburn, and No. 15 Arkansas.
Teams from Texas’ non-conference schedule in the ranking included No. 5 Connecticut.
