Oregon loses transfer TE Roger Saleapaga to BYU

by

With Jamari Johnson coming back, 2025 five-star Andrew Olesh transferring in from Penn State and 2026 five-star Kendre Harrison soon joining the team, the Oregon Ducks‘ tight end room is looking to be very strong next season. As a result, a number of reserve tight ends have entered the transfer portal for the Ducks, with one of them being Roger Saleapaga.

On Friday night, Saleapaga announced via a post on X that he’s committed to the BYU Cougars.

Saleapaga was a three-star prospect and the No. 32 tight end in the 2024 recruiting class, per 247 Sports, out of Orem High School in Orem, UT. He saw action immediately, appearing in 11 games as a true freshman before suffering a season-ending injury.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pounder was a key piece as the TE3 behind Kenyon Sadiq and Johnson in 2025, though he finished with just three receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown, with the lone score coming late in the Ducks‘ 56-22 loss to the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff Semifinal.

With his transfer to BYU, Saleapaga will be a key piece for the Cougars who were on the cusp of making their first College Football Playoff appearance in program history last season, finishing with a 12-2 record and making the Big 12 title game.

Saleapaga will have two seasons of eligibility with a redshirt available to use.
