SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Padres have signed right-handed pitcher Ty Adcock to a one-year contract through the 2026 season, president of baseball operations and general manager A.J. Preller announced on Thursday.
Adcock, 28, spent the bulk of his 2025 campaign with Triple-A Syracuse (31 G) while making two Major League stints with the New York Mets, allowing one run across his three outings (3.0 IP). He opened the season in Syracuse with five consecutive scoreless appearances (6.0 IP), facing just two batters above the minimum (hit, walk) while striking out six batters from April 9-24. He finished the season with six consecutive scoreless outings in the month of September (6.0 IP) without allowing a run or a hit and nine strikeouts against two walks while facing just two batters above the minimum (two walks). On the whole, he threw to a 4.66 ERA (19 ER, 36.2 IP) in International League play, holding opponents to a .197 clip (25-for-127) with 35 strikeouts.
The Oxford, North Carolina native was originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in the eighth round of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Elon (N.C.) University, making his Major League debut with the club during the 2023 season when he threw 2.0-perfect innings of relief against Miami on June 13. He went on to hold opponents scoreless in his first nine games (12.0 IP) and did not allow a walk in any of his 12 appearances in 2023, the longest streak to start a career in Mariners’ history. He was later claimed off waivers by the Mets on May 23, 2024 and made six appearances throughout two seasons within the Mets system. In total, he has thrown to a 5.48 ERA (14 ER, 23.0 IP) with a .227 opponents’ average (20-for-88) and 19 strikeouts to four walks across parts of three MLB seasons and 18 appearances.
