Pair of Spartan tight ends rank in the top ten of Big Ten

Michigan State football is not having the best season, to say the least, but there are individual Spartans that have seen success during the season.

Two of those players seeing success are both of the team’s playing group tight ends, senior Jack Velling and redshirt junior Michael Masunas. Both have found ways to make their impact on several facets of the game.

Velling checks in this season with 20 catches for 169 yards and two touchdowns, while Masunas has gotten 11 catches for 136 yards and three touchdowns. Both can block and effectively be used in the passing game.

Noticing how well the Spartans tight ends are playing, PFSN College, an advanced analytics and data company, has both tight ends ranked in the top ten of the Big Ten.

Masunas comes in with a 79.6 grade, at No. 6 in the conference, while Velling holds a 76.6 rating at No. 9.
