Pakistan Playing 11 vs Oman- Asia Cup 2025, Match 4:

Openers: Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub

Pakistan will open their 2025 Asia Cup campaign with the match against Oman, which will be the fourth match of the ongoing edition of the tournament.

The Men in Green would be satisfied with the recent success that they have had in the T20I format of the game after a big win over Afghanistan while defending a below-par total in the final of the tri-nation series.

The Salman Ali Agha-led side would like to build on that win and put on a strong performance against Oman, who are also looking solid in terms of the resources that they have at their disposal.

That is the reason why the former T20 World Cup champions would not like to let complacency kick in when they take the field against Oman.

As far as the combination of the Pakistani team for their tournament opener is concerned, they are likely to retain their core and go with the strongest possible XI, considering it’s the start of a new tournament.

If that remains the case, then it is safe to say that Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub will open the innings.

The two openers have shown glimpses of what they are capable of at the top of the order, but haven’t converted that into a big score.

Both Ayub and Farhan will look to do that in the first match itself, while playing in their natural attacking manner in the first six overs.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Fakhar Zaman, Salman Ali Agha (c), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Haris (wk), Faheem Ashraf

The openers will be followed by a middle order that has put its hand up as and when needed and has guided the team to an above-par total in most of the matches that Pakistan have played this year.

The onus will be on Captain Salmana Ali Agha to lead from the front like he has done on a few occasions in the recent past.

Agha would want other batters to provide him good support for Pakistan to increase their chances of putting on a strong effort with the bat, both while batting first or while chasing.

Along with Agha senior batter Fakhar Zaman would also like to get some runs under his belt as he can turn the game in Pakistan’s favour if he gets going.

Bowlers: Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed

If we talk about the bowling arsenal, it has been a force to reckon with in the last few months and has been led well by Shahaeen Afridi.

The experienced fast bowler will once again be entrusted with the responsibility of picking wickets with the new ball, like he so often does.

Shaheen will be supported by Haris Rauf, whose USP is his pace, and the fast bowler will bank on that to bounce out the opposition batters.

As far as the team’s spin bowling department is concerned, it has a lot of options with Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz being the two specialist spinners.

The duo will be assisted with a few overs of spin from Saim Ayub and captain Salman Ali Agha.
