Indian women’s team cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s marriage had become the talk of the town after former beau Palash Muchhal proposed to her at the DY Patil Stadium, the same venue where she won the World Cup 2025. However, tensions flared when the wedding was called off with cheating allegations against the cricketer’s partner.
Smriti Mandhana was going through the best phase of her life, as she had steered India to their first-ever Women’s World Cup title in 2025 and then was about to marry her longtime beau, Palash Muchhal. However, her dream phase soon turned into a nightmare.
Muchhal and Mandhana were reportedly scheduled to tie the knot on the 23rd of November 2025, but the wedding was called off after the pre-wedding season. Smriti’s father’s health deteriorated suddenly, and later it was revealed that the wedding was not postponed but had been called off due to cheating allegations against Palash Muchhal.
Your daily dose of cricket!
Two months have passed since the wedding was called off between Palash Muchhal and Smriti, and the singer-composer has once again been in the spotlight for renewed cheating allegations. The allegations have been raised by one of Mandhana’s friends.
Amid the controversy, which has now escalated to a court case as well, the singer-composer has quietly removed several Instagram posts that featured him alongside the Indian cricketer and cherished several sweet moments between the two.
The posts that were deleted included affectionate birthday wishes, festive messages and snapshots from various public and private occasions. The posts were still visible until January 23rd and have disappeared recently.
Palash Muchhal has filed a defamation suit against Smriti Mandhana’s friend
The controversy was reignited when Vidnyan Mane, one of the close friends of Smriti Mandhana, alleged that Muchhal was caught up in a compromising situation with another woman and further claimed that Mandhana’s teammates confronted him physically.
“I was at the wedding celebrations (November, 23, 2025) when he was caught red-handed with another woman in bed. Bhayanak scene tha, he was beaten up by the Indian female cricketers. The entire family is chindi chor. I thought he’d get married and settle in Sangli, but it has completely backfired on me,” said Mane. Mane also accused him of cheating him out of another INR 40 lakh.
However, Palash Muchhal has not taken these allegations smoothly, as the composer initiated legal proceedings in the court and filed a defamation suit against the actor-producer.
“A legal notice of defamation of ₹10 crore has been sent by my lawyer, Shreyansh Mithare, to Sangli-based Vidnyan Mane for his false, outrageous and highly defamatory accusations made with the deliberate intent to malign my reputation and character,” he said in his statement.
Smriti Mandhana-led RCB is leading the WPL points table
Smriti Mandhana has, however, moved on from the turmoils in her personal life as she continues with her profession passionately. She played for India against Sri Lanka in the T20I series and is currently leading the RCB Women in the WPL.
Mandhana captained RCB to their maiden title in WPL 2024, and the 2026 season has stirred up hopes for another title with a new bunch of players. They do not have the likes of Elyse Perry and Sophie Devine, and formed a new team comprising Grace Harris, Nandine de Klerk, and Lauren Bell, who formed the new core of the RCB lineup.
Mandhana has been leading the way for her side with 230 runs, and RCB are currently leading the points table with 5 wins in 6 matches.
