Paul McGinley doubts Luke Donald knows if he wants captain role again

by

Paul McGinley is aware that Europe will have a difficult task at the next edition of the Ryder Cup, even though they will have the home advantage. The Americans, after the disappointment of the last two editions, are aware that it is important to make changes and do everything in order to avenge that defeat.

European fans could play a major role in the next edition, but the previous edition on US soil showed that sometimes fans do not have to be only a means of distracting the opponent, but can also be a motivational tool.

Although there is still a lot of time until the next edition, the question is already being asked who will be the captain of both the American and European teams.

Paul McGinley, a legend of both European and world golf, reacted to the question about the captain, believing that Luke Donald still does not know if he wants to take on such a role again.

McGinley notes that it is important to find the right person.

He also mentioned what influence the home crowd will have on the team's performance.

“I honestly don't think that [Luke] knows what he wants to do yet,” he said, as quoted by Independent.

I spoke to him last week, and he's still so undecided as to what the future is. He’s going to take Christmas and make a decision early in the New Year.

He really need to appoint somebody by February or March next year. And there’s no doubt that if he goes for three in a row, that will be an even better achievement. But it’s going to be very, very difficult to try to win three in a row.

I think Adare Manor will suit the Americans with the style of golf that they play. They like it down there.

I think the crowd will behave well, which will help the American team. And we’ve got to correct a little bit of complacency that we had on the Sunday at Bethpage.

Trying to win again for a third time is not easy for a team going in with expectations on your shoulders."

US team

However, it seems that more attention is focused on the American team, because fans in America are dissatisfied with Keegan Bradley and his work.

The PGA of America must make the right decision, knowing that if they make the same mistake again, an avalanche of criticism and dissatisfaction will follow. Important figures of American golf stressed that PGA of America will change many things, because this system has not brought them success in the last four years.
