Penn State loses one of its lone commits in the 2027 recruiting class after four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor decommitted from the program, per Hayes Fawcett’s post on X.

Taylor was an in-state product and hails from the Pittsburgh area, an area that Penn State has dominated on the recruiting trail over the past couple of years

The Pine Richland product is the No. 56 player in his class, the No. 11 wide receiver and the No. 3 player in the state, according to 247Sports composite rankings. Over the past few months, he’s received offers from Notre Dame and Florida State, while holding many other Power 4 offers.

Taylor’s decommitment leaves just three players in the early cycle of the class. Running back Kemon Spell, offensive lineman Layton von Brandt and cornerback Gabriel Jenkins as the players still committed to the program in the Class of 2027.

The 2026 class has three receivers right now. Davion Brown, Jahsiear Rogers and Lavar Keys could be the future of the Nittany Lion receiving core. However, highly-regarded receivers Tyseer Denmark, class of 2024, and Koby Howard, class of 2025, have yet to see meaningful time in a Penn State uniform.

It is unknown how far the Nittany Lions will fall in the 2027 recruiting rankings, but they won’t be ranked No. 2 in the class with the loss of a four-star prospect.
