Penn State’s five-star commit Kemon Spell displayed exactly why he’s the top recruit in the state on Saturday, and the only disappoint came from the defenders attempting to tackle him.
Spell opened his junior year at McKeesport High School with a five touchdown performance, en route to a 51-24 McKeesport victory.
Penn State Commit Goes Nuclear in Season Opener
Spell pledged his commitment to Penn State back on Aug. 2, 2024, and became the Nittany Lions’ first commitment for the 2027 recruiting class.
However, as Spell continues to shine in just his junior year, Penn Sate will have to work hard to keep the top running back in the country at home.

McKeesport opened its season against Delaware Valley on Saturday, and Spell wasted no time putting his mark on the game. The running back returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.
Then, he took his first carry of the game 50-plus yards for a touchdown. Two touches, two touchdowns. That’s a decent start, right?
On the next possession, Spell scampered 80 yards for his third touchdown. The five-star running back had three touchdowns on his first three touches of the game.
Spell wasn’t done though, because three touchdowns wouldn’t be enough for the top player in the state. The running back scored two more 50-plus yard touchdowns, one reversing fields to escape defenders and the other, spinning through defenders as if he was in a pin ball machine on his way to the end zone.
Spell is committed to Penn State, but the five-star running back also has offers from Wisconsin, Michigan, Notre Dame and Penn State. With it being the start of his junior season, he’s bound to collect many more offers as well.

For now, the Nittany Lions are thankful the talented, top running back prospect is staying home.
