Xander Schauffele was a dominant figure on the golf scene two years ago, and most predicted that the famous golfer would dominate year after year. Last year, however, Schauffele wasn't nearly as dominant as he was in 2024, which raised many questions and concerns.
Schauffele didn’t start the season well, missing his first cut in 72 appearances at the Farmers Insurance Open. This has added to the concern among fans, but experts and key figures in the golf world seem to be trying to reassure fans, stressing that Xander is still a quality golfer.
Phil Mickelson, a well-known figure in the golf world, shared his opinion about Xander Schauffele on social media and is clearly optimistic about the future of the 32-year-old player.
“Xander is playing some great golf,“ Mickelson said.
When asked if he played regularly with Schauffele during the off-season, Phil confirmed that they really played together and that Xander is ready for new challenges.
“Yes, unsuccessfully. He’s ready. Like, he’s ready to start the season. His game is sharp now.“

Mickelson wants to record a video with him
Furthermore, Mickelson revealed that he wants to film Schauffele for his YouTube channel in a match.
“The reason I really want him to do an episode or do a match is he’s so funny,“ Phil said.
“Like, people wouldn’t know that about him, and I think that his personality would come out. He is understated funny.“
Xander is a very interesting figure, and such a video would certainly attract attention, as golf fans could see a different side of his personality.
The American is focused on improving his performance this season and repairing his image after a disappointing 2025. It will be really interesting to see how much he can achieve this year and whether he can return to the top of the PGA Tour scene.
