Phoenix Mercury host Indiana Fever before East Coast trip

The Phoenix Mercury host the Indiana Fever for the final time this season in a game that could have an impact on both teams’ spots in the playoff race.

The Mercury evened the series at 1 in the last meeting between the teams on Aug. 7, when Phoenix hammered Indiana by 35 points.

A lot has changed for the Fever since then, as guards Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald suffered season-ending injuries against the Mercury. The Fever’s injury issues continued when guard Sophie Cunningham was ruled out for the season with an MCL injury on Aug. 19.

This season, the Mercury still haven’t faced Caitlin Clark, who has played only 13 games in 2025. Clark has dealt with several injuries and has been sidelined since July 15 with a right groin injury.

The Fever hope that Clark will return before the end of the season. The matchup with the Mercury will be the first of the final four games of the season for the Fever.

The game will be shown locally on Arizona’s Family 3TV at 7 p.m. and nationally on NBA TV.

The Mercury will then go on the final East Coast road trip of the regular season, starting with the Washington Mystics on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 4:30 p.m. MST.

The Mercury are 2-0 against the Mystics, winning 88-72 in the last meeting on July 27. The Mystics are led by guard Sonia Citron and forward Kiki Iriafen, two of the WNBA’s top rookies.

Citron broke a 26-year-old rookie scoring record for the Mystics when she tallied 537 points in 35 games, surpassing Chamique Holdsclaw’s 525 points in 31 games.

The game will be shown locally on Arizona’s Family Sports.

The Mercury finish the road trip at the Connecticut Sun on Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. MST. The Sun have been eliminated from the playoffs.

The game will also be shown locally on Arizona’s Family 3TV.
