It’s do-or-die for the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals.

The Las Vegas Aces hold a commanding 3-0 series lead and can sweep for the title in Game 4 on Friday, Oct. 10.

The Mercury will try everything they can to extend the season, but will be without star Satou Sabally, who was diagnosed with a concussion from Game 3.

The 6-foot-4 forward took a nasty spill midway through the fourth quarter after Aces guard Jackie Young’s arm hooked into Sabally’s arm as she was jumping for a loose ball. Sabally’s face fell into Kierstan Bell’s knee and her neck was twisted. She was down for a while before being helped to the locker room by a team staff member and center Kalani Brown.

Sabally has been a huge part of the Mercury’s postseason success and has continued to do so in the Finals. Sabally has averaged 21.7 points in her three Finals games.

Her injury will stretch the eight-player rotation thinner than usual, and the starting lineup will likely see forward DeWanna Bonner taking her place. Bonner had a rough start in the Finals, but had a big game with a team-leading 25 points from the bench.

Game 4 will be at 5 p.m. MST at Mortgage Matchup Center and will air on ESPN.

Mercury star named to All-WNBA team

Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas was named to the 2025 All-WNBA First Team.

Thomas has been named to the first team three times (2023, 2024, 2025) and has been on the All-WNBA four times in her career. She received 71 first team votes and one second team vote from a panel of media members.

In her first season with the Mercury, Thomas averaged 15.4 points on a career-high 53.2% shooting from the field, a career-high 9.2 assists, 8.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals.

She was also named to the All-Defensive first team earlier this week. Thomas and Brittney Griner (2014) are the only Mercury players to earn All-WNBA First Team, All-Defensive First Team and All-Star honors in the same season.

Thomas joins Las Vegas Aces’ forward A’ja Wilson, Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier, Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray and Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell (320).

The second team consists of Seattle Storm forward Nneka Ogwumike, Aces guard Jackie Young, New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu, Fever center Aliyah Boston and Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers.
