Pitt women’s basketball | Wake Forest outscores Panthers by 26 points over the final 3 quarters to prevail

PITTSBURGH – The Wake Forest women’s basketball team outscored Pitt by 26 points over the final three quarters to prevail 74-55 Thursday.

Wake Forest (12-3, 2-1 ACC) trailed 21-14 after the first quarter. Grace Oliver collected 17 points, Mary Carter added 12 and Aurora Sorbye chipped in 10. Opal Bird totaled six points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Sorbye added five assists.

Lauren Rust compiled 17 points and five rebounds for Pitt (7-9, 0-3 ACC). Fatima Diakhate added 10 points and 11 boards. Theresa Hagans Jr. dished out eight assists.

The teams were tied at 35-all at halftime. Wake Forest outscored Pitt 15-5 in the third quarter, and 24-15 in the fourth.
