It’s another “Summer Series” special edition of the Coloradoan’s Athlete of the Week, partnering with Blue Federal Credit Union to honor the top local sports stars.

This week’s edition: Vote for the athlete who played high school basketball in the Fort Collins area and had the best men’s college basketball season in 2025.

Local boys basketball programs have sent more over 20 players to the college ranks in the 2020s, and several had strong seasons during the 2024-25 campaign.

Voting will continue through Aug. 1 at 11:59 a.m., with the winner announced at coloradoan.com/sports.

Meet the men’s basketball nominees:

  • Parker Davis, Casper College (Rocky Mountain): The redshirt freshman made an impact off the bench for a Thunderbirds squad that went 25-7 and made an NJCAA regional. Davis averaged 5 points per game, made 23 3-pointers and shot over 76% at the free-throw line.

  • David Hageman, Hastings College (Windsor): The former Wizards star played a crucial role for the Broncos. Hageman started 15 of 25 games, averaging 7.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 43% from the field as a shooting guard.

  • Colin Hayes, Northwest College (Fossil Ridge): The sophomore was electric for the Trappers in a breakout season. Hayes tallied 16 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting over 50% and scoring 20+ points in eight games for a 19-12 squad that made the NJCAA postseason.

  • Jaden Kennis, CSU Pueblo (Windsor): The Wizards alum headed south after three seasons at MSU Denver and earned regular Division II minutes in Pueblo. Kennis started 14 games, averaging 6.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and nearly a steal per game. His 24 made 3-pointers was second among CSU Pueblo players.

  • Drew Larson, Northwest College (Fossil Ridge): The fellow sophomore and former SaberCat was Hayes’ running mate for the Trappers. Larson started all but one game and had 15.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He was ultra efficient, shooting over 50% overall and 41% on 3-pointers.
