Michigan State travels to Minnesota for game #9. The Spartans are attempting to avoid losing a sixth straight game, while the Golden Gophers are looking for their sixth win of the year and bowl eligibility. Here are our thoughts for how this will go.

Mike: After 5 straight double-digit losses, I just can’t see this team winning on the road against 5-3 Minnesota, even if the Gophers got waxed at Iowa last week. They did beat Nebraska 24-6 the week before Iowa though. For MSU, is it going to be like USC, Nebraska, Indiana, and Michigan where they show some fight and effort but can’t make the plays to win? Or is it going to be the complete embarrassment that was UCLA? I think it will be more like the first option, where mistakes kill us again, turning a winnable opportunity into another maddening loss. 21-20 Minnesota.
Steve: Trying to think of a new way for this team to lose makes my head hurt. Minn 24 MSU 17.
Lucas: Rossi’s defense with another solid performance, but turnovers and the lack of a run game plague the offense. Minnesota 21- MSU 16.
O: I think through two quarters, MSU is going to get shut out. At halftime, Coach Smith makes the decision to go with Alessio at QB. He leads a pair of second half TD drives as MSU’s offense looks leaps and bounds better than it did in the first half. While it is still not enough for the victory as Minnesota picks up the 27-14 win, Smith does say in his postgame press conference that Milivojevic will be the starter to finish the season.
