The Citadel

The Bulldogs opened their 2025-26 season by defeating Erskine 105-61. The team took 59 three pointers, which accounted for 75% of their total field goals attempted. They did convert on 21 of the attempts, so it’s an interesting storyline to watch for heading into the game. They also outrebounded Erskine 50-26, 22 of them being offensive boards. Sola Adebisi led the Bulldogs with 15 points, with Keynan Davis and Logan Applegate each scoring 11.

Last season was a season to forget for the Bulldogs. Finishing a mere 5-25 and 0-18 in the Southern Conference is a situation no team wants to find themselves in. It hasn’t been pretty under head coach Ed Conroy, who returns for his fourth season as coach while holding a 27-68 record.

It remains to be seen who takes on the primary scoring duties for the Citadel with Brody Fox playing his final year last season who averaged 16.7 points per game. It’s easier said than done to replicate such high scoring, but the Bulldogs do have talented players on the roster who can potentially take up the challenge. Junior guard Keynan Davis was second in scoring last year, averaging 9.2 points per game in just 13 games before missing the spring semester. Now, it’s on his shoulders to lead the backcourt.

Along with Davis returning includes forwards Sola Adebisi and Christian Moore. Adebisi transferred from Florida State last season and definitely earned his role through his steady play. Not only did his points totals jump from 0.3 points per game to 8.7, he did so while shooting 49.7% from the field and grabbed six rebounds a night. Christian Moore returns as a sophomore forward, who started 11 games last year and shot 36% from three in conference play.

The Freshman class for the Bulldogs includes guards Marco Gonzales, Jameson Heck, and Jack Walter, with Logan Menefee, Chase Williams, and Aidan Alexander filling their forward spots. It’s imperative for the Bulldogs to develop their young group and build a foundation. There are multiple avenues in which they can rebuild, and it’s apparent they’re doing so with six fresh faces to the roster.

Boston College

The Eagles lost their season opener 83-78 to FAU in a tough, contested battle. In a game that went back and forth during regulation, FAU came away with the victory in overtime. Despite the loss, there are positives to take away from the game. First, Donald Hand picked up right were he left off from last year and scored 20 points. Second, offensively they held their own by shooting 35.7% from three in the game, with four different players connecting on at least two of them. Boden Kapke scored 17 points on 7/10 shooting and added five offensive boards in the game.

Matchup Preview

The Citadel are a young, inexperienced team looking to build a core that can compete night in and night out. The Eagles are a hungry team who want to be relevant in the ACC, and should take care of the Bulldogs with relative ease. Boston College must capitalize on the early season opportunity with their talent and experience advantage.

Prediction: Boston College 86, The Citadel 71
