AJ Styles is backstage at tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown — and it’s definitely raising questions.
The veteran WWE Superstar, currently part of the RAW brand, was seen at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland ahead of the show. While there’s no confirmation that he’ll appear on-screen, his presence is especially interesting given the show’s heavy focus on Hulk Hogan’s tribute and major SummerSlam build.
There’s no word yet on why Styles is in the building, but it’s worth noting that tonight’s SmackDown features some of WWE’s top stars and emotional segments, including:
- Randy Orton & Jelly Roll confronting Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul
- WWE Tag Team Championship: The Wyatt Sicks vs. Andrade & Rey Fenix
- Alexa Bliss vs. Roxanne Perez
- Cody Rhodes to appear
- A special tribute to Hulk Hogan, with multiple legends on hand
Styles could be backstage simply to honor Hogan privately, or WWE could be setting something up behind the scenes. Either way, the timing makes his appearance too notable to ignore — especially as WWE continues blurring brand lines for key moments. Also confirmed to appear tonight to honor Hogan:
