Veteran left-hander is expected to be called up to the Major Leagues by the Royals, a source told MLB.com’s Anne Rogers on Monday. The team has not confirmed the move.

When he pitches for the Royals — he’s expected to join the team in Chicago on Monday, and no starter has been listed for Tuesday at Wrigley Field — the 45-year-old would tie Edwin Jackson’s MLB record by playing for his 14th MLB team. Hill signed a Minor League deal with Kansas City in May and recently became the oldest pitcher since Nolan Ryan to strike out at least 10 batters in a professional game in a start with Triple-A Omaha.

Hill has posted a 5.36 ERA with a 1.62 WHIP in nine Triple-A starts (42 innings) this year.

Hill has pitched for the Cubs, Orioles, Red Sox, Guardians, Angels, Yankees, A’s, Dodgers, Twins, Rays, Mets, Pirates and Padres since making his MLB debut in 2005.
