Carlitos' level dropped in the second part of the match and only the Russian's mistakes in the third set allowed him to get this precious victory. The 22-year-old Spaniard will return to action against Alexander Zverev for a place in the final, aiming to avenge the defeat suffered against the German star at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin last November.
Sascha is a very dangerous player on such a fast surface, but he said he didn't feel very well after beating Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals. The world number 3 seemed a bit tired in the second set and will certainly not want to risk a week before the start of the last Slam of the season.

The hope of fans is to see a new final between Alcaraz and Sinner, in what would be a sort of prelude to the showdown that could take place in New York at the end of the summer.
