Riho Targets Mercedes Moné After TBS Title Match During September 3 AEW Dyamite

by

The September 3 edition of AEW Dynamite ended with a huge moment for the women’s division, as Riho made her long-awaited return to the company and immediately went after Mercedes Moné.

After Moné successfully defended her TBS Championship against Alex Windsor in a hard-fought match, things quickly got chaotic. Moné refused a handshake post-match, and Windsor retaliated with a sneak attack. The TBS Champ regained control and locked in her Statement Maker submission—but she didn’t see what was coming next.

Riho stormed the ring to a massive reaction, climbing to the top rope and leveling Moné with a double stomp. The first-ever AEW Women’s World Champion soaked in the moment before following up with a basement dropkick that sent Moné crashing out of the ring.

This marks Riho’s first appearance in AEW in over a year—her last match taking place on the July 6, 2024 episode of AEW Collision. Her return instantly reignites fresh intrigue in the women’s division and throws a new challenger into the mix for the TBS Title.

Meanwhile, Moné continues her run toward the record books. With another win under her belt, she inches closer to Jade Cargill’s record-setting 508-day reign as TBS Champion.

Should Riho be the one to dethrone Mercedes Moné, or is Moné destined to break Jade Cargill’s record? Drop your take in the comments and let us know who you’re backing.
