Featherweights are set for five rounds at the UFC Apex.
At UFC Fight Night 263, rising contenders Steve Garcia and David Onama will throw down at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, pending bout finalization.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the targeted booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Agreements are in place with contracts expected in the coming days. Eurosport NL first reported the booking.
Garcia (18-5 MMA, 7-2 UFC) has won six fights in a row with five finishes in that period. His only decision in that stretch came in his most recent outing when he beat Calvin Kattar unanimously.
Onama (14-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) has proven to be an action fighter himself. Despite often going the distance, Onama is known for his blood-and-guts wars, including a Fight of the Night battle vs. Nate Landwehr.
With the addition, the UFC Fight Night 263 lineup includes:
