Robert MacIntyre eyes more DP World Tour events after Rory McIlroy’s call

by

Robert MacIntyre is one of the names in golf that attracts special attention, and fans are wondering if the Scotsman will play a lot of DP World Tour events this year. The 29-year-old starts the season on the PGA Tour, but after Rory's appeal for the DP World Tour's top players to play as much as possible and take responsibility, it looks like it will have an impact on everyone.

Robert MacIntyre received his PGA card in early 2024 and hasn't played many DP World events in the last two years. In an interview with the media, the popular golfer pointed out that Rory's message made an impression on him and that he enjoys playing on the DP World.

While playing on the PGA remains a priority for most golfers, the Scot is aware that he has played a lot of tournaments over the past few years and that, after the PGA Tour is over, he wants to turn his attention to European tournaments.

“100 per cent,” said MacIntyre. “I don’t know what the world of golf has got in store for all the tours and what’s going on. But I love coming back over here (to the DP World Tour). Look, I have only played in America for two years and I love coming back to Europe.

“You’ve got to hope you have a good season and you can finish the PGA season in August and then you can then go to the likes of Ireland, Wentworth and stuff on this side of the Atlantic. I’ve played a lot of golf the last two years, a lot of rounds of golf, but I think for us guys, Europeans, once the PGA season is done, it’s another tour for us after that.”

Rory as a role model

MacIntyre believes that if Rory makes a certain move, other players will follow his example, given that Rory is one of the greatest golfers in Europe, as well as the world.
